As the Children had all left home it was the perfect time to change the use of some of the space. Consequently with the help of a very practical friend and Architect who lives down the road and Cheryls input from her travelling experiences, Lyons Lakestay was born! During this time Steve was working in China and although Cheryl had spent some time there, the development of the Lakestay was a “Lure” he needed to return to enjoy the Pristine surroundings once more, catch some more Trout and spend more time with his family. Steve now works from home and as an Engineer/Project manager in the Fast growing dairy Industry. OUR MISSION... Due to Cheryls keen interest in the garden, Outdoors and the very sensitive Lakes environment, the Lakestay has evolved as an Organic place to stay. There is produce available from the Organic vegetable garden most of the year. There may sometimes be smoked Trout available to guests if we have had time to go fishing.
Cheryl and Steve enjoy chatting with guests from all parts of the World and assisting with your decision making on the Attractions or places to visit in the area, especially while sitting in the garden with a beer or wine to enjoy the company, great views and fresh air.
With cheryls friendly and flexible approach a variety of needs can be met, with the modern facilities you can be as independent as you would like and prepare your own meals or take advantage of the home prepared Breakfasts, Picnic Lunch or “Kiwi BBQ" Packs, all made with Fresh New Zealand Produce, often from the Lakestay garden. Where possible Organic ingredients are used.
Breakfasts $10 - $18pp
Can include Organic Breads to Toast and Homemade Jams, Organic Homemade Muesli, Organic Honey Yoghurt, with Fresh Fruit.
Cooked Breakfast Includes, Bacon, Eggs, Kumara Hash Browns, plus Breads and Fruit as above.
NB Special diets such as Gluten or Dairy FREE also catered for.
Picnic Lunch $10pp
“Kiwi BBQ” Packs $25pp – includes NZ Lamb and Gourmet Potatoes/Kumara for you to cook on the BBQ. A Salad from the garden, Bread Rolls and a Fresh Fruit/Cheese platter prepared by Cheryl.
Cheryl and Steve look forward to meeting you at the Lakestay to enjoy the Very special environment and Village settlement of Lake Okareka, where you can relax at the end of a busy day or spend all day at the Lake taking advantage of the walks, kayaks, bikes, swimming or reading a book in the garden to rejuvinate at a “Home away from Home”.You are away from all the noise and pressures of the city but all the shopping, Night Life, conveniences of a city and the Rotroua Attractions are only a peaceful, scenic 10 minute drive away. Many of the Lakestay guests come for a day or 2 and stay for several, often a week. |
