Mountain Biking
Lyons Lake Stay is centrally located with easy access to great mountain biking tracks. Rotorua is fast becoming a world famous destination for mountain biking with a range of tracks for all abilities. We have four bikes for hire, or feel free to bring your own.
Kayaking
The lake is just across the road and is the location for many water sports. We have a couple of hire kayaks with lifejackets and paddles available. This is a unique way to see the lake, and get up close and personal with our native flora and fauna.
Trout Fishing
Lake Okareka is nestled in amongst
many beautiful lakes and is open for fishing 12 months of the Year.There are many "hotspots" for the Fly Fishing enthusiast within a few minutes walk or use 1 of our kayaks to explore the Lake and catch your dinner at the same time! The native rainbow trout are fun to catch and delicious to eat. A short drive to Lake Tarawera to catch "The Big Ones"!
Scenic Walks
Lake Okareka has a beautiful lake-edge boardwalk or you can take a bush walk and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. You will see a large range of native wildlife and plants.
